Chop Chop Wok, located on main Khayaban e Badar, is a rice and noodle bar offering quality Pan Asian food.
Coalesce Design Studio had opted for a minimalist take on this project, to design an inviting space centered around the celebration of communal dining. Drawing inspiration from Japanese ramen bars, Coalesce Design Studio and Chop Chop Wok worked collaboratively to create an informal spacious dining space, with every aspect of its design tailored towards creating a clean and sophisticated, yet open and welcoming environment.
It is characterized by earthy tones, with large windows inviting natural light to brighten the place and maintain a refreshing aura. The wooden benches are ideal for communal dining, which contributes to the casual atmosphere. The benches also offer a close-up view of the linear display kitchen, so that visitors can experience live wok cooking. The proximity of the dining and kitchen area enhances the connectivity and openness that the space promises, also providing an aroma of spices as a bonus. For the comfort of those who prefer privacy, airy booths had also been designed. The use of sustainable oak wood added warmth, while liberal applications of concrete created an earthy yet refined feel. Particular attention had been paid to the details reflected in the meticulous craftsmanship in the lighting and woodwork. The exterior was designed using Shou Sugi Ban, the ancient Japanese art technique of burning timber to produce a unique artistic dimension with wood.
